I think the girls like to have a partner to chat and hang out with. I mean, Alaine travels to Vancouver just to spend time with Kevin. Kaetlyn takes Trennt along with her to stuff like the special event in her hometown. The two couples have also gone on vacation together. I would like Gabby to focus on her skating but also look more carefully at the guys she's choosing to date.
I really hesitate to comment on a relationship from a distance...
Even close friend's relationships can be very different than how they appear to others...
But something in all those selfies, suggested to me that Gabby was still trying to feel comfortable about how she looks...and I wondered if that confidence wasn't getting sufficient support from her relationship...
She's lovely...but bullying, as she talked about, leaves a long legacy in one's backbrain.
Having secure relationships can really help with that. So, I can understand that this situation has been taking a deep toll.
^^ I have also felt similar re Gabby, as exemplified by the constant need for a new selfie. She is a beautiful, talented, courageous young woman and a top tier athlete, and perhaps ...a victim of a few insecurities like so many at that age. I hope this demon can be put aside, as she has worked so hard and deserves to be awarded and to shine this season, accordingly!

I saw her boyfriend at the SOI Toronto M&G. He was hovering a few feet from her, across the aisle from where she was seated with Javier. It felt kind of strange. I mean Andrew Poje's mom was also in the room but she was just chilling with other folks at a distance and enjoying her evening. I really felt like Gabby was used for her fame for a bit by this guy. But hey, it's their relationship. Gabby seems happy to have the support of her friends at this time and she's focused on the upcoming season. You go girl! And if she does go looking for a bf I hope it's someone who's loving, kind, and supportive - who won't leave her as soon as the next season begins.
Must say the new look brings out her eyes more! Really hope she comes on strong this season. Would really like for her to come away form one of her GP events smiling with a medal! But still want her to save her best for worlds. Think she put too much into winning CAN Nationals last year. And then of course going into the Olympics and worlds as the CAN champ I think played in her mind.
I think the whole battling pneumonia thing also took its toll on her. She did try to fight at Worlds but the ankle injury was unfortunate. Still, she hung on and Canada kept its ladies spots as a result of that. It was a parallel to Kirsten and Mike's efforts in the pairs event. The year before it was Meagan & Eric. It can't be denied that Canada has skaters with grit and heart.
